Howdy Fishers
Spring fishing, gotta love it. Grouper, snapper, kingfish,
mackerel and many more are biting now and with old man winter
starting to bed down for the season, the seas are getting
calm, the temperature is pleasant and Summer heat is still several
weeks off and shorts are the appropriate sports wear in the
fishing cockpit.
With that said, fishing is as good this spring as I have seen
in over five years. We had a limit of kingfish today, released
several bonita's and trolled up four grouper on a six hour trip.
Spring and Fall are without a doubt the best time to get out and
party in the gulf. Grouper are still biting good along with the
kingfish bite that is just starting. Soon will be going offshore
for the May run of the blackfin tuna. June will bring the opening
of Red Snapper and the report is they are as thick as fleas on a
dogs back and biting with as much furry.
The great news today is it looks like the National Marine
Fisheries Service is going to leave grouper fishing rules status
quo. It is not set in stone yet and could change, however after
there last meeting this looks like it will happen to our benefit.
You can thank the FRA (Fishing Right Alliance)
www.thefra.org for their
incredible work. These guys are unrelenting in the passion for
your fishing rights. I also want to personally thank all for you
who called there congressman and sent donations to the FRA over
these issues.
And remember ..... If you are to busy to go fishing..... You
are just to darn busy!
